It is difficult for us to imagine how people looked at, and saw things, many centuries ago.

It is almost as if, for a moment, the Jews who heard Jesus say:

"Eli, Eli why have you abondoned me?"

thought that Jesus was calling on Elijah, and were afraid that they might be struck by lightening.
